Apache Solr Data Engineer (On Site – Baltimore, MD)
Location: Baltimore, MD (100% on site)

Client: Large federal agency
Summary:
Seeking an experienced Apache Solr Engineer with strong data engineering and enterprise search experience to support a mission critical federal data warehouse environment. The engineer will design, optimize, and maintain Solr indexing pipelines, integrate structured/unstructured data sources, and ensure high performance search capabilities across large federal datasets.
Key Responsibilities:
– Solr index design, schema management, tuning, and query optimization
– Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines feeding Solr and downstream data warehouse systems
– Implement search relevancy, faceting, clustering, and distributed indexing
– Manage SolrCloud clusters, Zookeeper coordination, and high availability configurations
– Collaborate with data architects, developers, and federal stakeholders to support search driven applications
Required Skills:
– Hands on Apache Solr/SolrCloud engineering
– Strong SQL, ETL, and data modeling experience
– Experience with Linux, APIs, and distributed systems
– Familiarity with Hadoop/Spark/NoSQL a plus
– Ability to work on site in Baltimore, MD
